Staff Lookup

A job title rarely says who owns an issue in a congressional or state legislative office. A "Legislative Director" can carry an entire policy portfolio; a "Legislative Assistant" might own just one issue area. Apogee resolves this directly: ask about an office or issue, and it surfaces the specific staffer, matched by policy portfolio, hearing activity, and bill sponsorship history rather than title alone.

Coverage

The directory covers roughly 19,000 federal staffers across the House, Senate, and joint committees, plus state legislative staff in all 50 states and DC. Federal staff records also include employment history - prior Congressional roles a staffer has held. Data comes from LegiStorm's licensed congressional and state staff directory, cross-referenced against public committee assignments, hearing witness lists, and bill activity to resolve who actually handles a given issue.

What's shown

Every registered account sees the same staffer record: name, title, and office. Direct phone and email, and which specific issues a staffer covers, unlock once you register - an anonymous preview session sees name, title, and office only. Free accounts are limited to a set number of staff lookups per month, per the license terms covering this data; paid accounts are unlimited.

Asking

Staff Lookup works conversationally, in chat:

"Who covers health policy in a Senator's office?"

"Find the chief of staff for a Representative's office"

"Who are the energy staffers on a Senate committee?"

Apogee returns the matched staffer or staffers, their title, and their office, citing the licensed directory. Ask a follow-up to narrow by chamber, committee, or issue area.

Exporting results

Any staff-lookup table can be downloaded directly as CSV or XLSX. To save an individual staffer for later - across separate conversations, not just this one - ask Apogee to add them to your contacts; each is saved one at a time and becomes part of your persistent People list.

LegiStorm-sourced staff data (not the public House directory) is capped at 24 records per exported file on paid plans, per the license terms covering this data; free accounts cannot export staff files at all. Neither limit affects how many staffers you can see in chat.
